Train Collision Marks End of the Line for Texas Burglary Suspect

A man with active warrants in connection to a burglary in East Texas and other offenses in the state met his demise after being struck by a train in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby revealed that Andrew Lee Ancell had outstanding warrants in four different counties prior to his presence in Newton County.

Among these warrants, there was one from Sabine County related to burglary. During the search for Ancell, multiple law enforcement agencies were involved, including the use of TDCJ tracking dogs, sheriff’s office canines, and several helicopters equipped with heat-seeking technology.

Ancell faced charges for various offenses, including breaking into a deer camp in Newton County, located near Highway 255 and CR 1090, on July 28.

Preliminary reports received by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office indicated that Ancell was a wanted individual being pursued by law enforcement when he was struck by a train.
