In a unanimous decision, the Newton County Board of Education has granted approval to Dr. Duke Bradley, III as the sole finalist for the superintendent position within the Newton County School System.
Samantha Fuhrey, the former superintendent, retired back in June.
Pending board approval after a mandatory 15-day waiting period, Dr. Bradley is poised to assume the role of superintendent.
Following the meeting, Dr. Bradley expressed his profound humility, stating, “I am deeply honored by this opportunity. It’s evident that the Board of Education had a clear vision of the qualities they sought in a superintendent. I’m optimistic that I can meet their expectations and eagerly anticipate engaging with the community in the coming weeks and months.”
Dr. Bradley’s educational journey includes earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from Morehouse College in 1998, followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching from Brown University in 1999.
Subsequently, he obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the John Marshall Law School in Athens, complemented by a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Before transitioning into district leadership, Dr. Bradley served as a school principal for a decade.
